We care about our own people and our wider community as much as we care about our clients. That’s why we promote equality, diversity and sustainability, and always look for new ways to make a positive difference.
Proud of the attentive and friendly culture in our offices, we support the pursuits of our team as much as possible, whether that’s family life, a burning passion in a specialist sector or a cause close to their heart.
As a values-driven firm we strive to make sure we have a positive impact on our community and society through the following ongoing commitments:
We are proud to be supporting leading homelessness charity, Llamau as our 2024 charity of the year. We are pleased to support the incredible work that they do, supporting young people and women across Wales.
Llamau believe that we all have the right to a home, to fulfil our potential, and feel safe and secure, despite the difficult circumstances we sometimes face. Llamau work with the people they support to build their qualifications and improve their employability, so that they are able to live independently in the future.
Our charity of the year 2023 was Cardiff Foodbank. We are delighted to have raised over £2,000 throughout 2023 to support the incredible work that they do. On top of that, our Darwin Gray team also donated kilos of food and helped out at the food bank itself.
In 2022, Darwin Gray raised money for Velindre Cancer Centre. Known as the Hospital of Hope, Velindre is the leading provider of radiotherapy and other specialised anti-cancer treatments in Wales.
We’ve been a Living Wage employer since 2017. In fact, we were the first Welsh law firm to be accredited by the Living Wage Foundation. This means that anyone working at Darwin Gray receives a minimum hourly rate that’s calculated and updated each year in line with the real cost of living.
Darwin Gray is proud to hold the Alcumus SafeSupplier verification, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable and ethical practices, as well as continuously improving environmental and safety standards.
Everyone has a part to play in the conservation of our environment, no matter how big or small. Over the years, we’ve continually made positive changes in the office to make our business as sustainable as possible, including:
Understanding that there’s always more we can do, the team continues to contribute ideas for greener, more sustainable practices.
As part of Darwin Gray’s Carbon Reduction Plan, we are working on proactively recording and reducing our carbon footprint on an individual and firm level. You can see the full plan here.
As an equal opportunities employer, we see the strength in diversity and drawing on a range of experiences. Every team member has the right to fair practices and behaviour at work, as well as equal access to benefits and conditions.
When it comes to our clients, we advise on all aspects of equality and diversity and promote HR best practices, and our Employment Law and HR team often provide training courses to a wide variety of clients on the topic.
With offices in South and North Wales, and with nearly a third of our employees able to provide legal services through the medium of Welsh, , we were proud to receive the Welsh Language Commissioner’s ‘Y Cynnig Cymraeg’ (the Welsh Language Offer) accreditation.
The Welsh Offer’s aim is to demonstrate and promote the high standard of services that we can offer to our clients through the medium of Welsh.
