March 30, 2015
Coinciding with our birthday, we are also celebrating the qualification of one of our trainees, Siobhan Williams. Siobhan is a member of the Company Commercial team, whom she has already been working with for the past few months. She is a valued member of the team and we wish her many congratulations on achieving her qualification!
Sports
As we slowly emerge from the winter months, our many active team members are getting ready for a variety of sporting events:
Obviously not satisfied with the pain of last year, Donald Gray will once again be riding the famous cobbles of Paris-Roubaix in April – although not as fast as the professional riders in the photograph who race the following day! Let’s hope it doesn’t take 24 hours for his vision to return to normal this year…
Keen cyclist and runner Ian Herbert will be combining his two sporting passions and competing in not one but two duathlons in the coming months. He’ll tackle the Mumbles Duathlon first on 21St March, http://www.mumblesduathlon.com/ followed by part of the Welsh Championships, on 15th April in the Vale of Glamorgan http://www.aim2tri.co.uk/event/vale-of-glamorgan-duathlon-2015/ – that’s if his legs can take it!
Cyfreithwyr
Darwin Gray is proud to sponsor a new website, www.cyfreithwyr.com, which was launched this month. The site enables those wishing to instruct a welsh-speaking solicitor to do so. The innovative website enables clients to locate bilingual solicitors within the required field of expertise and, if appropriate, within a particular geographical location.
You should not be put off if you feel your Welsh is not particularly good as the service is for use by all those who enjoy speaking Welsh and would like to converse with their solicitor in Welsh, regardless of ability. As much or as little of your work as you feel comfortable with can be undertaken in Welsh.
We believe that this is a great website so please pass the news on to any family and friends that you think would be interested and might find it helpful.
Women in Property
Kate Andrews (solicitor in our Property Dispute Resolution Team) is an active member of the nation-wide Association of Women in Property; a networking group that aims to promote the professional roles of women within the industry. Kate has recently been re-elected for another term as Secretary of the South Wales branch – congratulations Kate!
If anyone is interested in joining Kate at any of their regular events or meetings (not just women) then please feel free to get in touch with her or with the local branch itself through the following website:http://www.womeninproperty.org.uk/
R3 Association of Business Recovery Professionals
Kempton Rees, partner in our Commercial Dispute Resolution and Insolvency team, is a member of the regional committee of R3. The group’s aim is to raise awareness amongst individuals and business professionals of the benefits in obtaining financial advice and assistance when they or businesses become financially distressed.
R3 has recently launched a new website (www.creditorinsolvencyguide.co.uk), the purpose of which is to act as a step-by-step guide to the insolvency process for unsecured creditors, particularly small businesses who are unfamiliar with the insolvency process.
If you have any insolvency queries then please get in touch with Kempton who would be more than happy to help.
