Employment partner Damian Phillips ran the Cardiff Half Marathon on 6 October for Ty Hafan. From a standing start Damian worked hard in the months leading to the event, regaling us with his training woes and achievements along the way! Fighting off training injuries and with over £1200 raised as his motivation, Damian completed the challenge within his goal time of 2 hours. Well done Damian!
Commercial disputes partner Ian Herbert was fortunate enough to secure a place in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey this summer, which involved cycling 100 miles on the London Olympics cycling road race course, including the well-known Box Hill climb. Ian and his team made it round the route in great time and raised funds for Tenovus, a charity close to his heart.
Another exciting event this month was the Three Courts Walk – an event in which people from across the legal and voluntary sectors in Wales walk around Cardiff City Centre via the Crown, Magistrates and Civil Courts to help raise awareness and funds for pro bono and free legal advice agencies. Carl Spencer, our newly qualified Company/Commercial Solicitor and Reaching Justice Wales committee member, played an active role in organising this year’s walk and a number of other people from the firm also took part. The event was a great success – over 120 people took part and significant funds were raised – all in an evening’s work!
Last but not least was our client and friends evening which took place this month. Held in the Swalec Stadium, we had a great turn out and enjoyed a lovely evening chatting and mingling over a glass of wine and canapés. The highlight of the evening was a Q&A session with Jonathan Davies: Scarlets, Wales and, British and Irish Lions star, who took some time out to come and chat with us about his experiences of playing high level rugby. Thanks to everyone who was able to join us and make the evening a success. We hope to see you all at future events.
